The only 6 existing automotive V4 engines

All the V4 engines you can think of are mainly made for motorcycles,
but automotive ones are very rare.
With so few cylinders in the V-shape being extremely rare, these six
are the only ones officially known.

1. MeMZ 965 - ZAZ - 1960 - 1994

The Soviet Union was one of the few that had production cars with a V4 engine.
And not in anything, but in a car with mass production, this is exactly ZZ - Zaporozhets
According to some it is similar to the Beetle and Trabant ( first versions ).
This car is a legend and was among the people's favorites, not only in the USSR, but also other communist countries.
As well as among those outside this regime. The car is cooled by an oil radiator and air, on subsequent models it is also equipped with two
turbines. Before these engines were used 3 cylinder, starting from 750, up to 1200cc with magnesium and aluminum blocks.

Features: 1,197 litre, V4, 50 hp, 4,800 RPM, 85 Nm torque - oil radiator and air cooled.

2. Ford Taunus V4 - 1962 - 1991

The Taunus engine was built by Ford's German division in the 1960s
It was manufactured with an iron block and head. This same engine was also tested by SAAB after
their convenience was also used in their cars as a better and reliable alternative to two-stroke engines.
In addition to Ford and SAAB, the same engine is also used in French Matra 530 sports cars

Features: 1.7 litre, V4, 78 hp, 5 000 RPM, 141 Nm torque, water cooled.

3.M422 Mighty Mite - 1959 - 1962
This little jeep was made by AMC for US military use only.
Aluminum Jeep, no extras, but it does have a double drivetrain and a rear short differential with weird brakes.
Don't underestimate it, because on this light chassis this engine is more than enough and it's even air-cooled.

Features: 1.7 litre, 55 hp, 122 Nm torque

4. Porsche 919 Hybrid - 201 - 2017

The Porsche debuted in 2014 for competition but was modified for the 2015 season due to technical issues.
A unique combination of power, lightness, small engine and electricity. The name says it all.
A two-litre, V4 with an electric motor up front and a turbocharger power recovery system.
The best part is that he even managed to win the championship in his premiere year, then twice more after that.

Features: 2 litre, DOHC V4, 500 hp water cooled.

5. Lancia Appia V4 - 1922 - 1976

Vodice, this Lancia V4 engine is one of the most robust and longest lived ( still in use and production ) engines ever.
Since 1922 it has gone through quite a few modifications, such as changing the tilt from 10 to 20 degrees, and from a 900cc to a 2.6 liter monster.
Different versions of the engine also carry different names, such as - Lambda, Artena, Augusta, Aprilia, Ardea, Appia and Fulvia, according to the vehicle, for
which is intended. All have a single head aluminum block, some with a 45 degree tilt.

Characteristics: 1000 cc, 48 hp, 85 Nm torque, 5000 RPM

6. Ford Capri - Essex V4 - 1961 - 1877

The Ford Essex was originally a V4, but a 6 cylinder version came out a few years later.
The V4 version has a 60-degree lean and a brutal, Bosker-like ignition.
Only two variants existed, a 1.7 litre and a 2 litre, both of which were used in the Taunus.

Specifications: 1.9 litre, 94 hp, 5,500 RPM, 141 Nm of torque.
