The only 4 reliable Italian engines
No, we're not talking Ferarri-class engines here, but..... for lower.
Fiat 20v - Bravo HGT
Details: 1,988cc, 5 cylinder inline, 155hp 6,700rpm
This is one of the few quality 5 cylinder inline petrol engines in existence.
The Italian company has made a 2-liter and even a 2.4-liter for the Fiat Stilo Abarth
They started with the smaller version with added tuning and even a turbo option that only has it in the Coupe. It's a great and reliable engine that lacks any serious issues, that's why it's one of the most respected.
Alfa Romeo Busso - 1979 - 2005
Details: 3,178cc, V6, petrol, 250bhp, 6,200rpm, 300Nm
This brand owns beautiful cars, is known for unique design, but.... not for quality of a good car manufacturer.
Aside from the stalwart boxer engine, Alfa Romeo have a much better and more reliable motor than that. This Alfa V6 is one of the best and most popular engines.
Reviews are about it being a very reliable and quality bike.
Naturally in the spirit of Alfa it's still not completely perfect, he often drinks oil and sometimes a little water.
I must note...., sounds brutal :X
Fiat 1,4 Multiair - from 2009
Details: 1.4 litre 4 cylinder, inline, 155 hp, 5,500 rpm, 230 Nm
As a new-generation engine, the Fiat Multiair is no ordinary engine in many ways.
There is a new and different head that has a timing pulley on the intake side to work with the valves, but some of the additions are an electronically driven hydraulic system.
It's said to be cheaper to make than a regular head, plus it seems to be reliable, as evidenced by its fairly widespread use over the years.
Oh, and by the way, there's also a two-cylinder version.
Fiat JTD - 1,9 and 2,4 liters - 1985 e0 1986
Details: 5 cylinder turbo diesel engine, 210 hp, 4 000rpm, 400Nm
Fiat's JTD series, also known as the Multijet engine, and the Family B.
This diesel engine, it's not just... a diesel engine. It's unique and it's a lot more complicated than other diesel or petrol engines, it's got a lot more... oh.
But still, it has a very simplified structure and is made to be easy to use,
which is a huge joy for owners of a car with this gem in the basket.
Actually, this engine may be FIAT's, but it was first put in Alfa Romeo cars, then it appeared in Fiat and Lancia cars.
As a matter of principle everyone avoids mentioning this detail that it comes from FIAT, but anyway, they are cousins. 😀
