National Security Armoured Chrysler 300c - Yesterday we had the opportunity to drive an awesome National Security Armoured Chrysler 300c. The vehicle was transported under strict confidentiality, you don't need to know where or how. But we can share the awesome details surrounding the monster.
The car weighs 3.5 tons because of the reinforcement, which is a ton and a half over the normal weight of this car.
It's not exactly limosine, but say stretch or mid-range, it can be mined. Especially this one is quite luxurious, after all it rides personalities.
The engine is a 3 litre, 6 cylinder, V shaped CRD diesel unit with 218 hp, electronically limited top speed to 230 km/h, maximum torque 510 Nm/1600 rpm, turbocharger, automatic transmission. Of course, because of the armouring, the car is a bit more cumbersome and is unlikely to reach 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds as is standard for the model.
It is likely that they chose this model as it is the only one with the most economical and reliable engine, of course it doesn't carry its original suspension, which is still problematic for a 300c model, but a much more robust one, which can support all the extra weight of 1.5 tons, plus passengers. Added all-round reinforcement to the structure, as that's pretty heavy. Every armoured vehicle is custom made either to the manufacturer or to private specialist companies with only such business with a license issued and approved.
Standard fuel consumption is 9 litres per 100 km city driving, 5.50 litres per 100 highway/suburban and 6.5 litres per 100 combined. Of course, it's unlikely the consumption will be like that with the armouring, but it would still be a lot better if it was the petrol engine model especially than the older man-eaters.
A great achievement for the 300c, it can be compared to a normal car as the figures are bottom to top the same, it depends, but looking at its predecessors, they weren't renowned for being economical at all. Not to mention performance quality fraught with problems and quite a few imperfections. It's no coincidence that they are quite a bit cheaper, both new and second hand, whereas you won't find this one at their price.
Avoid the old models, their repairs are not cheap at all, not that they are on this model. Overall the CRD 300C is the first with a radical change for the series, quality build, the bike has as few problems as possible, and lacks the many imperfections costing owners a lot on the chassis and gearbox.
Apart from the economical engine, the reason the NSO chose this particular one is because of the much better and reliable performance. Not to mention that a new one costs around 50-70 000 BGN, which is a great price for such a class, but in this case it is quality that was lacking in previous versions.
Next even better than this are the SRT models, the diesel engine is actually the same in them with the same capabilities, the difference is again a better quality chassis, transmission, coupe and more luxury.
Pretty quickly, the American brand improved its version of the Mercedes Benz.
